Guernsey Fibre is a five-year project by Sure with a target completion of the end of 2026 to connect every home in Guernsey directly to our fibre broadband network.
Our team of specialist engineers will be working their way around the island connecting homes the network and we will be connecting more than 30,000 individual households to the network.
To plan the roll out, we’re considering the infrastructure that’s already in place, the density of the households, the ease of access to infrastructure and the disruption any work will cause.
Sure has been trialling fibre broadband connectivity for the last couple of years and these trials have delivered fantastic results so we’re very excited to deliver fibre connections island-wide.
The Guernsey Fibre project will provide fast, stable, reliable connections into every property and facilitate working from home, high-end gaming, top-quality streaming and multi-device households.
We have run a successful pilot phase to make 1,800 homes fibre ready and are now accelerating the rollout with around 700 new homes being able to order Fibre Broadband every month.
Customer feedback for installations has been fantastic with our engineers getting a 95% customer satisfaction rating for how clean and tidy their work is from hundreds of homes connected so far. The rollout is targeted for completion by the end of 2026 when all 30,000 properties in Guernsey will have unmatched broadband speeds.
Switching to fibre
If your property has been identified as next in line to be made fibre-ready, you will be contacted by the island’s three broadband providers.
If your telecoms provider encourages you to upgrade to fibre, you are under no obligation to do so.
But if you do want to have a landline or broadband connection you will need to move from copper to fibre – not immediately, but after a 12-month window from the time we let you know that your home has been made ‘fibre-ready’.
Progress on the project will be posted here so please check back regularly for updates.
